Things Fall Apart
“Things Fall Apart”, by Chinua Achebe is a Nigerian prose writer, poet and literary critic. Known primarily for his first novel, “Things Fall Apart”, which was published in 1958. This novel is by far the most readable and translated book of the modern African writer. For him, the writer in 2007 received the International Booker Prize. The novel describes the arrival of Europeans on African soil and its devastating consequences. The story is based on the distant past of Nigeria, about the tragic times of the colonization of Africa.Recreating the history of the courageous and strong man Okonkvo, embodying the best qualities of a warrior and fighter, the writer set out to protect the trampled dignity of Africans, to rehabilitate the past of his country, not only crossed out, but also falsified by the English colonizers.
